cori criminal record sealing

yOU MADE A MISTAKE - WE GET IT.

Our firm understands that individuals are not perfect and mistakes happen from silly decisions. We know that you are not a bad person - but other people finding your criminal record may not arrive at the same conclusion. Take control of the stigma associated with your criminal record and contact us to assist you in erasing a mistake you made in the past - do not let a mistake continue to haunt you and affect your future.

The stigma associated with a criminal record often interferes with an individual's ability to secure employment, pass a background check, or even secure housing. The effect: A jail chain and ball holding your life down and trapping you from escaping.

A criminal charge shows up in the database even if you were never convicted of committing the alleged crime. The charge alone is sufficient to create a criminal record that is publicly accessible and screams: "Criminal" - even in the absence of a conviction. The result is being denied or disqualified from employment, housing, or even discriminated against – a criminal record carries with it a stigma that seems to stick with you for life. Let us help you regain control over your life so that you can enjoy a new life journey – without the criminal stigma.

how will sealing my criminal record help change my life?

In Massachusetts, sealing a criminal record effectively removes that record from public view, allowing you to legally state that you have “no record” when applying for most jobs, housing, or professional license.

The turnaround time may be quick. The ability to seal a criminal record depends on a number of factors including the outcome of the case and the time that has passed since the disposition date (i.e., the date the case ended or you finished your sentence/probation).

How long have you been living with the consequences from a mistake you made many years ago?

Key Effects of Sealing Criminal Record:

  • Employment & Housing: Most private employers, landlords, and educational institutions will no longer see the sealed charges on a CORI report.

  • Legal Right to Deny: Under Massachusetts law, if your record is fully sealed, you can truthfully and lawfully answer “no record” on most applications.

  • Invisible Status: A sealed CORI will not show an entry suggesting a case was removed. Rather, it will simply appear as if the record does not exist.

  • Law Enforcement Access: Police and courts still have access to sealed records for official recording purposes. Additionally, sealed records may still be visible for certain high-security background checks – such as applying for a license to carry a firearm or positions requiring FBI fingerprint checks.

If you are tired of being denied jobs because of your criminal record or being denied a rental unit because you failed a background check, then consider contacting our firm to provide the legal services necessary to turn your life back on the right path.

Are you ready to regain control over your life? Transformation is just a call or click away.
